How To Prepare For Flu and Cold Season!

Tracking Pixel

I received product and compensation from Member’s Mark 3-ply facial tissues at Sam’s Club as part of a sponsored program. All opinions are my own.

Well friends, colder temps have finally hit the Chicagoland area and we are super pumped! Since moving back about 6 months ago, my kids have anxiously been anticipating cooler weather without the humidity like we were used to in Atlanta. However, with cooler temperatures means that it's also cold season, lots of sneezing and hopefully keeping germs as far away as possible!
So far, my kids haven't gotten anything but I still want to be as prepared as I can for this flu and cold season! How can I do that you ask? I've got a few tips to help you get ready!

Stock up on supplies - Be ready before cold and flu season starts. Load up on tissues such as Member's Mark 3-ply facial tissues from Sam's Club. Their top rated Member's Mark Premium 12 pack contains plush, durable, gentle, thick and absorbent tissues to stand up to the toughest colds or awful allergies. Having a tissue box always on hand, I'm confident that I'm as prepared as I can be for whatever life can bring. I also love that the tissues have over 900 tissues per pack! While shopping at my local Sam's Club I also picked up hand soap, hand sanitizer, and paper towels. Consider picking up a few distractions in case your kids get sick, like puzzles, coloring books, or DVDs.
Check your medicine cabinet. Make sure it contains pain relievers, fever reducers, and any other medications you use when your family is fighting colds or the flu, like decongestants or cough syrups. Review the correct doses based on age and weight. Check to see if any medications overlap or interact. Test your thermometer to make sure the batteries still work.

Clean your humidifier. Be strict about washing hands. Germ hands spread colds and the flu. Tell your family to scrub their hands well with soap for 20 seconds. Tell kids to wash for as long as it takes to sing "Happy Birthday" twice. Make sure you do it, too!

Set up sanitizer stations. Put a bottle of hand sanitizer in every room. Make sure it's at least 60% alcohol. Use a squirt as you pass by -- and get everyone else to do the same. Plan for sick days. You may need some days off. Even if you don't get sick, you may need to take care of your sick kids!
I'm loving that I can be as prepared as I can for the cold and flu season thanks to these easy steps and stocking our house up with the proper essentials such as Member's Mark 3-ply Facial Tissues. I love their new design too so it's perfect for upcoming holidays for guests to use when they come to visit.

Here’s a sneak peek of the Spring/Summer box hitting the shelves of Sam's Club soon!

  1. If there's one thing I've learned from cold and flu season it's that you ALWAYS need tissue around. No matter how careful you are, you WILL get a cold, and good tissue is a lifesaver.

  5. Such a great list! Cleaning the humidifier is one I used to forget until a few years ago when one of our boys needed it almost every night. Checking those expiration dates and making sure all the meds are stocked and ready to go ~ VERY important, as well. Here's hoping you have a healthy season in your new home!

  8. Ah, I'm probably not sufficiently stocked up right now and I definitely should be. I don't want a cold to catch us off guard.

  9. We do not take the flu lightly around here. We lost a friend to the flu last year, 40-year-old and otherwise healthy. Definitely need to stock up just in case.

  19. We like to purchase brand new humidifiers each year. We also use essential oils to help with the crud that comes during this season.
