Raise your hand if you love to spring clean your home? Getting rid of all the clutter, the old, and make room for the organized and new? Well, your mental health aka your mind is similar to that as well and also should be taken care of during this new season. Mental health is becoming less of a stigmatized topic in society but there can still be a lack of understanding of the importance of maintaining our mental and emotional well-being. Our mental health holds huge importance at every stage of our life from childhood into adulthood and beyond. Below are a few tips that have helped me spring clean my own mental health.
- Meditating: This is new for me and something that I love to do either in the morning or at night. I put on some calm music, find a comfortable spot on the floor, sit on a comfortable and sturdy blanket or pillow and work on my breathing to help calm my mind. Sometimes I use an App on my phone to help me work through this technique while other times I just listen to the calming music. I noticed if I had a stressful day, doing this helps to clear my head before I get into bed and sleep quicker.

3. Long Walks: My third tip to help clean out your mind is going on a walk. I love to get my muscles working and moving again and going on long walks enables me to do just that. If the weather is warm, I’ll even have my kids bring their bikes along with them to get some exercise as well.
