The holidays are here and I can’t wait to get my baking on. My kids seem to be ‘starving’ when they wake up at the crack of dawn so I’m always on the hunt to find something not only delicious but filling to keep them full until lunch time.
One of the most tasty breakfast favorites ( another favorite are these muffins ) to make them is this baked apple cinnamon french toast using one of our breads; Hawaiian Rolls! I mean, you can’t go wrong with this savory sweet bread but mix it together with crisp apples and sugary sweet cinnamon- its a dream come true for everyone!
The best part is it only takes a few ingredients to make, put in the oven and serve warm. I may even decide to add some whip cream or a little vanilla as as sweet dessert instead of a breakfast idea going forward! YUM!
Below is how to make this breakfast but I’ll warn you, I’d make two because it goes quick ( at least in our house ).
4 eggs slightly beaten
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup sugar divided
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon divided
1 large apple cored peeled and thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
KING’S HAWAIIAN Original Hawaiian Sweet Round Bread

Step 2. Chop round bread into cubes. Place bread cubes in greased 8×8-inch baking dish.
Step 3. Combine eggs, milk, 1/4 cup of sugar and 1-1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon in medium bowl; mix well.
Step 4. Pour half the egg mixture evenly over bread cubes. Cover top with apple slices.
Step 5. Pour remaining egg mixture over apple slices.
Step 6. Mix remaining 1/4 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon together in small bowl; sprinkle evenly over apples. Dot with butter.
Step 7.Bake 40-45 minutes until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
