Crazy For Collagen

I’ll be honest. I didn’t really hear about the craze of collagen until a few years ago. A few of my blogging buddies shared that they were adding this powder or taking the capsules to help boost their skin, hair and nails. I’ve always had extremely brittle nails but nothing until having Lily four years ago and then Landon a year ago. Now my nails just continue to break all the time. At first I thought it was because I was going to the nail salon a lot so I stopped getting my nails done but even after a few months, my nails continued to break at a moment’s notice and believe me, a broken nail HURTS really bad.

My SIL and several other friends shared that they started taking collagen pills and noticed a huge difference in the silkiness of their hair, their skin complexity and their nails. So, I went to the store and purchased a few different brands to see what I liked best. Personally, I like my medicine to come in a gummy form ( yes I can act 5 when it comes to taking medicine ) so I enjoyed taking THESE pills.

I asked a few of you on my Insta Stories for your recommendations and so many of you thought of some amazing items that you swear by! I guess we’re all a little crazy for collagen right?! Here are a few of what you all suggested.

PILLS  – As I said before, some of the pills weren’t huge on my list which is why I chose the gummy form but many of you LOVED these pills and take them daily so I had to add it to the list. I may attempt them when I run out of my Adult Gummies!


MAKE UP REMOVER WIPES –  I loved these wipes because they made my skin feel extremely soft after using them. THIS brand is a bit cheaper and also does a great job!

STRAWBERRY LEMONADE POWDER – THIS brand truthfully doesn’t taste the best but I add it to my water and chug it pretty quick ha. This is the pretty big version but I found a smaller one HERE to try while shopping at Urban Outfitters. They also come in stick packs if you’re always on the go like me!

SLEEPING MASK – I’ve never had so many of you recommend this amazing sleeping mask but I went to Sephora and tried and also loved it! I’m a fan of masks before bed and this went on so smooth and left my skin feeling clean, soft and hydrated.

THICK AND FULL SHAMPOO – THIS shampoo could not be more loved by many of you ( and me too! ) It truly leaves my really thick hair feeling it’s best, hydrating it from top to bottom and the best part, it’s so smooth! For a girl who has crazy fly aways, my hair truly feels incredible and I find myself putting my hand through my hair all the time!

SERUM – As far as serum’s go, THIS was a big suggestion from a few of my best blogger babes! This serum is great for on the go and helping to keep my skin feeling moisturized after I clean my face.

  4. I take the Vital Proteins but in the non flavor (it's a blue label!) I throw it in my coffee in the am and it dissolves instantly and I can't taste a thing! I feel as though it def has been making a difference esp with my hair! I have so many baby hairs from having my son a year ago and they are now getting so long!

  9. I have seen so many products that have collagen and I have always wondered if those really work. I will ask my doctor if I can take the pills but definitely the serum looks like a great option.

  10. Ive heard of the great benefits from collagen so I do tend to keep an eye on products that have it. I'm going to need to check out the mask cause it sounds right up my alley.

  14. I've been putting hydrolyzed collagen in my coffee every morning for about 6 months now and the only thing I've noticed is that my nails grow like crazy & it has helped with bloating. Nothing for my hair, skin, or joints though… boo. I'm thinking about switching to trying collagen pills though rather than using the powdered form!
