One of the biggest ways I can help my kids this holiday season is by gifting them books to continue to encourage their love of reading. A book advent calendar is such a fun way to not only get in the Christmas spirit but also build up your at-home library as well. Gathering 24 related books about Christmas can be pretty expensive but it doesn’t need to be done all at once. Throughout the year, I will purchase a few new books to add to their collection. I also check out the local Dollar Store or even the dollar section at Target to help.
HOW DOES IT WORK
Having a Christmas book advent calendar is similar to other advent calendars. You get to open a new book each day for the 24 days until Christmas. You can use the books you already have or add in a new book or two each year. Wrap the books up and place them under the tree or stack them somewhere with a cute little bow to look like a Christmas tree in itself. Unwrap a new book and enjoy reading it together that night.
I don’t think every book needs to be about Christmas to find books that your kids are going to enjoy that peak their interest. Below are a few ideas my kids are going to open!
I’m also sharing other bloggers who are sharing how they created their own advent calendar on my stories to be sure to check them out!
