One of the biggest ways I can help my kids this holiday season is by gifting them books to continue to encourage their love of reading. A book advent calendar is such a fun way to not only get in the Christmas spirit but also build up your at-home library as well. Gathering 24 related books about Christmas can be pretty expensive but it doesn’t need to be done all at once. Throughout the year, I will purchase a few new books to add to their collection. I also check out the local Dollar Store or even the dollar section at Target to help.

HOW DOES IT WORK
Having a Christmas book advent calendar is similar to other advent calendars. You get to open a new book each day for the 24 days until Christmas. You can use the books you already have or add in a new book or two each year. Wrap the books up and place them under the tree or stack them somewhere with a cute little bow to look like a Christmas tree in itself. Unwrap a new book and enjoy reading it together that night.
