If you were to ask me if I’m a sweet person or a salty person, I’d have to say sweet hands down, no questions asked. My husband on the other hand is a huge salt fan. Chips and salsa, roasted peanuts..the saltier the better he says.
Over the years I’ve come to enjoy many of my MIL’s recipes that she’s made but one of her top choices that we all ask her to make is her “famous pretzel recipe”. Basically, it tastes like Dot Pretzels but half the cost to make it at home and it makes SO much!
Personally, we love to enjoy these pretzels after a long day of playing outside in the sun. Why? They’re the perfect snack to make, store and use for later PLUS they’re great for bringing on trips on the water, drinking with a cold beverage or just enjoying with friends as a quick appetizer.
- Twist Pretzels ( I could only find sticks but twist works best and used THREE 16oz bags)
- 2 butter-flavored popping oil ( I used Orville Redenbacher )
- 1T Garlic Powder
- 1T Crushed Red Pepper
- 1T Cayenne Pepper
- 1t Dill Weed
- 2 packets of Ranch Seasoning
- 9 x 13 pan ( I used THESE FOIL PANS but you can use these 2 9 x 13 cake pans )
Dump 3 bags of pretzels into the pan.
Pour buttered flavored popcorn oil over all the pretzels.
Season with the seasonings over top.
Sprinkle 2 ranch seasoning packets. Stir well
Place in oven at 250 degree for 3 1/2 hour. Stir every 15 minutes.
