While we are just under a year for Bailey’s “Gotcha Day”, we are so thrilled to celebrate her birthday today! The Big O-N-E ! Bailey has been such a joy in our life and we have all learned so much from her infectious personality. Granted, she does give this Mom a few more grey hairs then I care to admit but what puppy doesn’t?
Here are a few things our girl loves!
Peanut Butter and Ice Cubes.
When I shared about Bailey a few months ago, many of you suggested getting peanut butter as part of a reward for her training. This girl goes crazy over it! Thankfully she does have a stop button when we put the peanut butter in her kong. Until she starts to look at you with those eyes asking for just one small spoonful more. Ice Cubes are another huge favorite. She only hears those little dings on our refrigerator and she comes running over ( hence the picture above with Landon ).
Golden-doodles have no idea what personal space means and that includes this little lady. We welcome it, at times ha! Her favorite thing is getting right in the middle of Lily and Landon when they’re on the couch and lay on top of them. I’m pretty sure they don’t mind at all. And truthfully, neither do Zach and I.
Early on we realized as soon as we say these two words, Bailey immediately runs to her drawer for us to get her leash out. She then jumps up and downs as if to say “HURRY UP! LETS GO! C’MON!” Walking itself can still be a struggle as she loves to smell and look at everything but we’ve continued to work on keeping her close to us when we walk her. Car rides- phew! She does amazing- especially if we drive back to Iowa which is 4 hours. She lays down in the back with the kids and does incredible.
Does not like:
As various holidays approach, Bailey was not sure what to expect when she saw a skeleton, a Santa blow up, or anything outside on people’s front lawns. She would immediately bark, run away, bark again and try to keep as far away as possible.
This was another trait we knew was a big thing for Bailey. Golden Doodles have a difficult time being separated from loved ones which is why I’m so grateful to work from home and be with her all the time. We tried once to put her in a different room than us to sleep but she cried the entire time and reluctantly, Zach and I brought her back into our room to sleep.
We feel so happy and grateful to have this sweet girl in our life. A year has gone by so quickly with her and we are soaking in every minute with her and can’t imagine not having this fur ball waking us up every morning with kisses, cuddles, and extra care. I appreciate how protective she is of every one of us, and how gentle she can be playing but also her extra side does come out at times. We love you Bailey/ Bailsey / Boo Boo / Puppers!
