We have a new obsession in our house and no it’s not all the Christmas cookies we’ve been baking. My kids have loved watching the new Ricky Zoom show that now plays on Nick Junior.
Ricky is a little red rescue bike who shares his experiences with his Bike Buddies, DJ, Scootio, and Loop. Together they race around the sports track and try new stunts at the park and zoom into every adventure that comes their way! Although they may not get it right the first time, the team understands the importance of teamwork and by working together they can succeed.
With my kids being old enough to know that it’s important to work as a team, I wanted them to help me get into the holiday spirit by creating sugar cookies and also having a little fun too! Before we got to work, I shared with the kids that each one of them had a job.
Lily, being the oldest, was able to help be a bit more hands on then Landon. Every person had a job to help make the sugar cookies the best they could be. I think Lily’s favorite part was cracking the egg into the bowl while Landon loves helping stir. They saw the value in everyone working together to make the final product [ just like when they helped make one of our favorites dishes ].
While the cookies baked in the oven, I set up a fun little activity for us to do. Landon loves creating race tracks for his cars and so we set up a garland tinsel track for both of them to see who could race to the present at the far end of the track first! Similar to Ricky who usually calls on his friends to help him, Lily helped Landon navigate turning his car right and left in order to get to the present. Landon was also patient and let his sister pick out the color car she wanted.
Teamwork at it’s finest my friends! Finally our cookies were done and ready to be frosted and eaten! A great job well done by my little ones who not only enjoyed eating some homemade cookies, play a new game together but also remember that it’s important to include and help all of us to complete the task at hand.
