While many of us are now working from home, we find ourselves in a new normal. Zach has been working from home now the past month which normally would not be a big issue except my desk from college ( about 12 years old now ) was not helping the both of us.
I’ve been on the hunt for a brand new desk for a few years now but could never pull the trigger on something I really wanted. Now seemed like the best time to really think about what I wanted as far as the function of something to use since we were going to be sharing the office for who knows how long.
And then, I saw it !
This desk had everything in my top 3 must have list.
One of the biggest things I wanted was a desk that had some organizational compartments to it. My old desk had storage but I hated being able to see everything since there were no drawers to hide notebooks, pencils or planners. I love that this desk has 2 pull out drawers that are pretty deep and wide to hold all sorts of items such as little things like paperclips, notepads, and markers. The other side is where I put my favorite life planner that keeps me organized for blog work and my schedule.
You all know I have a thing for white, navy and gold throughout my home [ aka our kitchen ] so I wanted to continue bringing that color scheme into the office. I wanted a white desk with gold hardware and legs. This desk was reasonably priced, offered a long the area for me to not only put my laptop, mouse and planner on but also gave me the space I wanted to add a few other decor pieces.
I loved this farmhouse chair when I first time I laid eyes on it. This farmhouse chic style worked perfectly with my desk. I loved the brushed polyester upholstery and the high backrest. The arms are around the seat which was fine since I usually don’t use the arms of a chair anyways.
I loved the button tufting along the piped edges and of course the nailhead trim gave it a great touch. It’s able to swivel and has wheels to glide over from task to task if I need too! I’m still looking for a great accent rug to bring everything together. Any ideas?
How To Keep It Organized:
This is tricky for everyone but one of the biggest things I’d say to keep yourself organized is to get bins that are able to keep everything in place.
I found THESE BINS and love the variety of sizes it has to keep pens, pencils, markers in a spot as well as paper clips, note pads and more. Divide everything that you need first and then make piles on what you want to keep hidden and what you’d like on your desk.
I feel a lot more put together, organized and ready to tackle the day with this new desk. Being at home may have its ups and downs for sure but I’m learning to make this new normal the best I can.
