One of the hardest things about being in a pandemic is attempting to maintain relationships with friends and family. We’ve been able to celebrate a few birthday parties all while social distancing during Covid-19 and it’s been so heartwarming seeing familiar faces even if it’s over a computer screen.
If you miss hosting dinner parties as we have, don’t let that stop you! Below are a few fun ideas to host your own virtual dinner party and it doesn’t take much effort either. I always give my guests about 2 weeks notice so everyone has time to plan.
Pick A Theme
Dinner parties don’t have to be super stuffy or formal. Sometimes it’s even fun just attending in your cozy pajamas ( footed or not ), slippers, or robes. You could even have guests pick a zoom background as a theme if you want to pretend to have a dinner party on a tropical island or beach somewhere.
Choose A Restaurant/Meal
Since this is a dinner party via Zoom, you want to make it special. If your friends are local, utilize curbside pick up or delivery options from a favorite spot. If it’s a chain restaurant and you have guests that are out of state, try to see if everyone is able to participate in picking up the meal so you can enjoy it all together. Encourage party guests to do the same and that way you can enjoy the same meal at the same time. You can always opt-out and have everyone try to make the same dish as another idea.
Enjoy Special Drinks
Normally I would serve my guests cocktails or special drinks if they attend a party at my home. This time I picked up Acqua Panna & S.Pellegrino Fine Dining Waters at my local Costco to complement our meal. I love S.Pellegrino as an added carbonated choice for those who enjoy sparking water. Both brands are from Italy and a great way to get the conversation started by asking what everyone is enjoying with their meal.
After The Party
Use a Facebook Photo Album or Carousel Instagram Post to share pictures of each virtual party detail (theme decor, activities, food, and drinks). Don’t forget to include various screenshots of virtual party guests engaging in the fun and remember what a great time you all had!
